This is one of those songs that kind of fell out onto the page nearly finished. The historic context of the song is the Heian Period of Japanese history. Considered the last period of classical Japanese history, it was a time of growing division between peasants and nobility, and a golden age for art and literature. During the time period there was a group of Heian aristocracy that become obsessed with all things beautiful. They dubbed themselves the "dwellers among the clouds." It seemed fitting to capture a piece of this history through a folksy love song.
