When writing the lyrics about Sulieman I kept trying to imagine what it would be like to be in a room with someone that held that much power. I assume it would feel like all the air had been sucked out. A stunning figure of history, the legacy of Sulieman is slowly being swallowed up by the sands of time. He was warrior, politician, and poet who was determined to rule the world. The lyrics of the song go so far as to imagine him considering whether or not he could control earth's satellite.
lyrics
I’m a shadow on the world
Can’t you feel my weight shake the earth?
A chain of titles follow me
They could bind any country
They could bind any country
Between the waters of Babylon
I’ll dip my sword into the sea
I control most everything
Could I dance down the moon?
I could dance down the moon
For I am Suleiman
Don’t you know my name?
For I am Suleiman
Don’t you know my name?
The German princes vex me
Don’t they fear me when I come?
I knock upon their city gates
Some day I’ll rule the world
Some day I’ll rule the world
Words of shocking beauty
Tumble from my pen
Vicious orders issue from my mouth
And I’ll win in the end
I win in the end
